Happy Monday BOSLadies!

Where will you be at 6:30pm tomorrow night? The February BOSLady meeting! Alexandra is hosting at HMFH, located at 130 Bishop Allen Drive in Cambridge. Remember to BYO(*insert favorite thing*) if you like your book discussions with a side of Pinot and, for example, brownie. Theoretically, we will be discussing The Wisdom of Insecurity by Alan Watts but please come even if you didn’t read it because we discuss topics far and beyond the month’s book of choice. If you can’t physically be at the meeting but still want to participate, let us know. I’ll be calling in too!

The Weekly Three

  • Something to add an extra dimension to this month’s book: Doing research on an author and getting some cultural context for their writing always enriches a read for me. Maybe knowing the risk an author was taking with what they were putting on paper or knowing who they would inspire gives me a greater appreciation for something I otherwise may not care about. Admittedly, all I did this month was go to Wikipedia for said research but I also stumbled upon this audio recording of Watts. Check them out and see if they do anything for you

  • Something entitled the Women’s Wisdom Project: I love Anna Brones’ monthly newsletter and love her Women’s Wisdom Project even more. She began the project in 2018 to “showcase the wisdom of inspiring, insightful women by making 100 papercut portraits” and has succeeded in creating a collection that is both an aesthetic and intellectual treat. If you need an influx of badass, inspirational women, look no further.

  • Something about doing the work: Brendan Leonard on the necessity of the grind

From Mandy Waryasz

Hi Ladies!

I was planning on sharing this at the meeting tonight but now I won’t be able to make it…

I love Alan Watts and have been infatuated with is approach to ideas for years.  The principles are simple yet powerful.  Just a shift in perspective really which makes it feel so dang tangible.

Anyway, my favorite way to digest his lectures is via Alan Watts Chillstep.  Have you heard?! There are some compositions on both soundcloud and youtube.  Feel free to indulge with the links below and get relaxed and inspired at the same time!
