Hello everyone,

Our book this month has put me in a reflective mindset. At the beginning of next month, our company will have two new employees who will be reporting to me. In preparation, I've been thinking about what attributes I value in leaders and how to embody those for the reports I will soon have. It also got me thinking more about what I aspire to not just in my current career, but my career path at a larger scale. I love this book club and am putting plans into action to start consulting for companies seeking more unity in the workplace. You all are the first to know about this, as you are where the confidence in my ability to execute this has largely come from. I'll be speaking more about this during the January 31st WILD Q&A event for the panel of speakers from Voices of WILD: LightFair PechaKucha Q&A. Register here.

In the spirit of self-confidence and pursuing our dreams and goals, I'm also sharing that I've decided to promote my art with a Patreon. I'm proud of this and am owning it even though it feels wildly uncomfortable!!!

Now, for some BOSLady business:

Our website has been updated! The BOSLady Love Note archive is now up to date, as are our Books and Meetings sections. If you are new to BOSLady, want to share with a friend or just want to go take a look back at the 120 letters (!), that's the place to go.

The next piece of business is that you should have all received the Google calendar event invitation for the February 8th meeting at 7pm EST. The Zoom information is on the website and below:

The Weekly Three

1. Something about professional authenticity online: It's difficult to be authentic in the professional world. Sometimes it can feel like we're skirting the line of too much personal information when we're trying to connect or share to seem approachable and real. This article explores that line by discussing specific situations it manifests in and what methods of digital communication are the best solutions.

2. Something about remote mentoring: Sensing a theme here today? When I think of mentoring, I don't think about the beginning of a new job. I think about when you've been somewhere awhile and need guidance for growth, not when you're just starting and need to learn the company's policies. This article caught me by surprise because it discussed onboarding and provided some pretty abysmal statistics about the lack of training people receive upon initial hiring. Thank you Alexandra for sending this to me when I happened to be creating a training manual for my soon to be team members.

3. Something about acceptance of new ideas and patience: From Ashly Perez

Thank you for taking the time to read,

Amber
