The Weekly Three
1. Something from Patrisse Cullors and Rolling Stone: Black Lives Matter Co-Founder on Building a Movement Through Art (photo from Rolling Stone)

2. Something about women, equity and architecture: I'm a few weeks late with this one but thank you to Brittany for sharing Parlour: "a space to speak – bringing together research, informed opinion and resources; generating debate and discussion; expanding the spaces for women in Australian architecture". If nothing else, take a look at their guides on pay equity, career progression and long hours.
3. Something from you - a request for the BOSLadies:
Amber, Brittany, Catherine and I are going to be presenting at the IES conference on the topic of supporting women in design beyond the emerging professional phase. We are structuring the talk around the hindsight, insight, foresight theme of this year’s conference. In the insight portion we will be discussing how the number of women in design professions decreases over time, the concept of the “ideal worker” and will look at traditional networking and mentoring structures. For insight we will each be sharing various topics related to women and design that we personally identify with, ranging from motherhood to the value of connections. In the foresight portion of the presentation will be looking at things that can be done to support women in design throughout their careers. Part of what makes this community so great is the variety of perspective and the collaborative environment. I am hoping that we can add some quotes and photos from this group on your experience related to these three areas.
It would also be great to get quotes about what book club means to you. If you would like to contribute a head shot to go along with your quote we will include these along with the quotes. Please send any quotes you would like to contribute to agadawski@hmfh.com, amberrpoirier@gmail.com, britt.e.lynch@gmail.com and catherine@adhlighting.com.
Thank you in advance for your contributions!
Thank you,
Alexandra
Missing you all,
Amber
