Happy first day of March!

We are not meeting this month so take a breather, a refresher, or just a plain old break. In response to last week's email about changing up BOSLady meetings, Jennifer Sanborn graciously volunteered to host our April meeting from NY. Look for an email from her soon with her choice of time and book!

The Weekly Three

1. Something about energy management: Continuing on the theme of willpower, I'm including this article from 2007 that Harvard Business Review republished recently (thanks Alexandra!). The article details changes experienced by employees of Wachovia Bank who went through an energy management program. The premise is that energy is not a finite resource and if attended to properly, it can be expanded. Notably, "new workday rituals succeed only if leaders support their adoption". If you're a leader who is wondering what ways you can support your team without putting the burden on them to ask, consider some of the methods used in the experiment.

2. Something about the harm of imposter syndrome as a diagnosis: If you've expressed feeling like a fraud at work, the likely response you received is that you have imposter syndrome. It's a problem that you have, your issue to overcome. This article (another HBR gem courtesy of Alexandra) suggests we address the environment that causes these feelings - a problem of the workplace, not of the individual: " Even if women demonstrate strength, ambition, and resilience, our daily battles with microaggressions, especially expectations and assumptions formed by stereotypes and racism, often push us down. Imposter syndrome as a concept fails to capture this dynamic and puts the onus on women to deal with the effects. Workplaces remain misdirected toward seeking individual solutions for issues disproportionately caused by systems of discrimination and abuses of power."

3. Something from Tarana Burke and Brene Brown: Just read this transcript.

Thank you for your time and enjoy your week, Amber
