Happy sunny Monday BOSladies!
This is a long one so buckle up!! Lots to make the start to your week even brighter
Last week’s Meeting
Thank you to Alexandra for hosting at HMFH and for organizing and ordering that unbelievable dinner. Here are a few things that we talked about:
Methods of timing and scheduling – a way of time blocking called the Pomodoro Technique which was in one of our previous monthly reads, The One Thing
Instead of saying sorry and burdening the recipient with the acceptance, say “thank you for” whatever it is you wanted to apologize for. The method is less likely to breed resentment and can also make you feel more empowered, as it did for the author of this article
Psychology of the middle choice. If you’re interested in learning more about our decision making methods, check out Sheena Iyengar’s The Art of Choosing. If you want the condensed version, her TED talk is 25 minutes very well spent

Laughter Yoga – for when it’s not goat yoga season and you need something extra lighthearted
Addicted to Doing – I find that I always need to goal that I’m working towards, some boundary to be pushing. In moderation, this can be good but when it leads to exhaustion and feels necessary, maybe it’s time for a little bit of mindfulness.
Upcoming events (thank you again Alexandra!)
Women in Architecture at MIT- event for children 10+
Call for proposals – Great local speaking opportunity if that is something people are interested in pursuing
On March 25, from 6-9pm, the Somerville Public Library is hosting an event on feminist spaces within our community and their needs and impacts.
From the event website: “Presenters include Gilda Bruckman, co-founder of New Words (one of the earliest feminist bookstores in the country), and Natalie Sanchez, Board President of March Forward Massachusetts (which organizes the Boston Women’s March). Moderated by Maggie Norcross-Devin from the Somerville Commission for Women. Light refreshments will be provided.”
Within the next week or so, look for another email regarding next month’s meeting. If anyone can host, let us know!
Thanks,
Amber Poirier
