Happy Monday evening BOSLadies!

Every week I put this letter together hoping it will serve as a bright reminder that you are part of a supportive and loving community of badass, empowered people. A reminder like that is most valuable in a time of struggle. A time of struggle, which the current pandemic has undeniably created, is also a time of opportunity for people to step up and care for one another. And there are lots of stories showing that the world has, often in the most simple and unexpected ways. Those stories and pieces of news are what I’m going to share this Monday night. I encourage you to share these weekly three with anyone you know who might need a boost or might be feeling a little alone, anxious or scared. BOSLadies are here for one another and we can be here for anyone else who might need us. Pass it along

The Weekly Three

1. Something about the comfort of Instagram during social distancing: Many of us are finding that restrictions on seeing one another in person have actually made our daily interactions more personal. In the office, coworkers are removed from their home environment, playing a specific social and professional role they have been hired for and operating in more or less the same parameters every time you see them. Many of us have transitioned to working from home as part of social distancing and are starting to conduct business via video chat. Now we are hearing and seeing pets and kids in the little squares coworkers inhabit on Zoom or GoTo meeting. You see coworkers looking a little disheveled, what the room looks like where their computer is set up, how they sound when they tell their spouse they’re in the middle of a call. The boundaries that existed when work was only done in the office have dissolved and we’re having more personal looks into the lives of our coworkers. You’re distancing, but really, this feels more intimate. You Have a Moral Responsibility to Post Your Boring Life on Instagram puts it nicely:

The author shares this as part of a larger thesis that seeing the mundane and uncurated aspects of one another’s lives is actually very good for us right now. We are lonely and we want to see faces. Right now those faces can have a backdrop of outdated kitchen cabinets and napping dogs and that is all the better for our isolated hearts.

2. Something from the founders of Atlas Obscura: Wonder from Home

3. Some things that have been made free while we isolate:

If I missed anything or there is something else that everyone should see, please let me know and I’ll send out extra Love Notes this week.

Be well!

Hey Amber,

Another link to more live music is KEXP Events. Last week they were streaming the daily Ben Gibbard shows and more musicians are adding to the mix. Keep rocking out!
