Welcome to March BOSLadies!

I hope that everyone is getting excited about next Tuesday’s “Bring a BOSLady” meeting! Find those friends with verve and bring them along to Available Light on the 10th. There was no book selected for this month in the hopes that those who are being invited for the first time don’t feel like there are any prerequisites. You’re encouraged to bring materials or ideas that have lately piqued your interest or are debate worthy.

If someone wants to join but can’t physically attend, they’re encouraged to jump on the conference line. A calendar invite will come out this week with the time, address and conference number. Can’t wait!

The Weekly Three

  • Something “celebrating fearless women”: This weekend I was wandering around REI, waiting for traffic to peter out, picking up things here and there, when I came across what looked like an oversized shoe box. It was labeled Force of Nature and was filled with products from companies owned, led or founded by women. Check out REI’s Hear Her Out campaign that is all about getting women’s voices heard and maybe even submit your own story. If you can’t get enough, continue to the Force of Nature page that also tells you in detail what REI is doing to create equity in the outdoors. Full disclosure: “you’re a force of nature” was my mantra for my long run on Sunday.

  • Something about the correlation of witchcraft and feminism: This unexpected culture piece in The Atlantic explores how in times of toil and trouble, Americans historically tend to get more interested in witchcraft. The present is no exception with magical practices being mainstream and trendy on social media. The author interviews several modern witches who credit the current rise in popularity and practice to the Trump #metoo era.

  • Something celebrating Women in Design: Check out the BSA’s Women in Design Award of Excellence 20th Anniversary exhibit! This exhibition is entitled IMPACT and its opening reception is this Thursday at 6pm. Also part of this exhibition programming is Each One Makes, a family event at which Alexandra from HMFH will be running a booth! Grab your kids and bring them on over at noon for a variety of hands on activities curated for the creative experience.

Enjoy your week everyone!
