Good morning and happy Monday!

Tomorrow evening we will see you all at Lam Partners for a remote session with Heather Hansman, author of our read for the month, Downriver. She will be calling in at 6:30pm and if you cannot physically make it, please call in too! Thank you to Alexandra for coordinating with Heather, to Lam for hosting, and to Catherine for setting up this go to meeting:

Please join my meeting from your computer, tablet or smartphone.            https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/843840733 You can also dial in using your phone. United States: +1 (571) 317-3129            Access Code: 843-840-733

At one point in her book, Hansman discusses the troubling trope of the woman in the wilderness searching for herself. How can we alter this narrative and make women explorers a norm? This article from the Onion will make you laugh / cry because it’s so relevant and true.

Because we’re a book club: A History of the American Public Library

And lastly, one of my favorite writer and artist’s piece on the benefits of discomfort. If you’re feeling you’re anxious about the week ahead (*raises hand*), listen to the TED talk that Leonard links to about how to make stress your friend.

Have a gloriously sunny start to your week. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Thanks,

Amber Poirier
