Good morning BOSLadies,
Happy Thanksgiving week! I hope that everyone is looking forward to the holiday and (hopefully) some down time with family, friends and friends that are family.

Two housekeeping items: First, a reminder that next WEDNESDAY the 4th at 6:30pm we are having our December meeting at the MFA’s Women Take the Floor exhibit. The second item is a feeler to see if anyone would be interested in a trip out to MASS MoCa on either December 21st or 22nd. Please let me know if either day works for you and if you have a vehicle. I can drive but we may need more cars if we can get a big group to road trip out. I’ve never been there before and can’t wait!!
Our Weekly Three
Something about perfectionism and effort: This morning, Catherine sent along the attached email blast from Mia Scharfe and it hit me square in the nose.
“Doing your best” always implied to me that you give whatever it is that you are working on 100%. I’ve hear the 80/20 principle plenty of times but always find it hard to grasp and actually put into practice.
Mia’s email made me think of a conversation I had last night about my need to control things. I habitually stress out about things that are not in my control. I know, I know, why stress over things that aren’t in your control, it doesn’t do anything productive. But maybe my need to control is linked to why it’s so hard for me to not give 100% all of the time and just let 20% of the chips fall where they may. Can anyone else relate?
Something genius but also Really fun: “Tip: replace self-deprecating jokes with ironically self-aggrandizing jokes”

Something about stress and mindset: This article is written about how to enjoy winter simply by looking at it as something to be enjoyed. I know that I’ve shared material on the perception of stress before but it’s worth the reminder, especially with this being the first of the season’s holiday weeks.
”Instead of the mere presence of stress, it is our mindset about stress — whether or not we perceive it as a help or a hindrance — that contributes most to health, performance and psychological outcomes.”
I hope that everyone has the best Thanksgiving weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next week!
