Good Monday BOSLadies!
I hope that everyone who attended last week’s meeting had a lovely time; I was very sad to miss it but am already looking forward to the next. Thank you Catherine for taking the reins as organizer and for sending out the recap and book poll. Don’t forget to vote for our October read! The selection will be announced later this week.
Also last week was the event with Samantha Power (who I clearly have a BOSLady crush on for mentioning so many weeks in a row). This article from The New Yorker calls her “a charismatic, crackingly smart presence who urged others to take up the cause”. If you did not get to hear her speak, I recommend asking Alexandra about it.

A quote from Power pulled from the above article:

Does anyone know about Ultra Marathons? An Ultra is defined as any race longer than 26.2 miles. I heard about the Tahoe 200 and wanted to pass out just thinking about it. Fun fact: it actually is 205 miles, not 200. Guess who completely devastated the course this year. Her name is Courtney Dauwalter. This video is a little long at ten minutes but will blow your mind with both the athlete and the scenery.
One of my favorite podcasts ends every full length episode with a segment they call “Fucking Hooray” in which they share something positive from their past week. This is how I was introduced to Tara Brach, a meditation teacher who combines Western psychology and Eastern philosophy. I was skeptical at first but after researching her educational background and looking at her body of work, I took a chance. I now highly recommend her podcast. Start with part one of “Hope can Heal” but don’t do so in public unless you don’t mind people seeing you cry.
Have the best week everyone!
