letter from Brittany Lynch
Hello BOSLadies!
I'm feeling the shift of fall, how about you? Fall in the mountain west is a different sight compared to the east coast red maples, putting on the finest show of the year. But some things are the same, like the breeze carrying a bite of cold and the gorgeous long shadows from the sun. I do love fall, and hope you all have a moment to savor the change of the seasons this week! I will be hosting the next (virtual) meeting for BOSLady. The next meeting will be simple, bring your own book, article and discuss how it's inspired you. Stay tuned for the invite. Below are the weekly three, and inspired from real life events. Enjoy! 1. Zoom hacking IS STILL HAPPENING Yes, it happened, last week, during our first PRG+ meeting! UGH it was absolutely horrible. I mean, at least it was a group of parents? And we've seen it all... Didn't make the experience less awkward. Be aware, use two factor authentication for any accounts you have, ALWAYS. Check out THIS GUIDE to double check the web meetings you are hosting are safe. If we followed the first piece of advice, then it could've been avoided. I did have a good laugh/cry later that night, but wouldn't want others to go through the same thing. 2. Letting yourself heal from medical procedures is not as easy as it seems...
Not gonna lie, the past couple of months have been rough. And it all started with what I thought was a little procedure called a gum graft. I wasn't aware of all the side effects that come with minor surgeries, including mental health. This quote pretty much sums it up and I would like to share, "...putting your health in the hands of another person (in this case, a surgeon) makes you extremely vulnerable and can trigger an array of strong emotions. Surgery is an invasion of a person's body, which can be quite traumatizing, whether they realize it or not." Knowing this truth helps me feel validated in recovery, and also lets me give myself the grace I need in this time. Read this article for more.
3. Something light to celebrate the Emmys last night
I kind of am obsessed with the rise in mini-series lately! Has anyone noticed how many seem to be popping up on streaming services as of late? Expect this momentum to continue :) Best part about a mini series is that it's "bingewatching lite."
Have a wonderful rest of your week!
All my best, Brittany
