Happy Autumnal Equinox BOSLadies!

Let me start this week’s letter by saying thank you. I don’t express my gratitude to our wonderful group enough and want you all to know that I appreciate the time, effort and energy that you all put into the community that we’ve built (and for reading my letters every week ). With that, I wish you a happy first day of fall and a gorgeous week of summery weather. I know that I still owe you all the location and date for our October meeting so hang tight!

Something to revisit: Almost exactly a year ago at the BSA Space, Juliet Chun and Zhanina Boyadzhieva shared the Boston results of their three phase research project Girl UNInterrupted. The mission of Girl UNInterrupted is “to bridge the gap between young female designers (and designers in general) and leaders in the architecture field” through “transparency and open dialogue”. At the time of their presentation and panel discussion, Chun and Boyadzhieva had published a manual based on what they collected in Boston. Now, they have launched their data visualization tool that allows you to see and filter results from all five cities and four survey categories. If you are not familiar with this project, checking it out would be an empowering and inspirational way to start off your week.

Something physical being used to explain the digital: Architecture is an unexpectedly good metaphor for online privacy

Something to listen to: Do you know who Jay Shetty is? Among other things, he is a former monk and and host of “viral wisdom videos” that have landed him on the Forbes 30 Under 30 and made him “one of the most viewed people on the internet internationally”. Robyn Goldstein introduced me to his podcast last week (thank you!!) so I am passing on the recommendation to you. Start out with the surprising Kobe Bryant episode.
